    The moment we start exercise there are immediate benefits, our heart rate increases and blood is delivered to our muscles. We also start burning calories to fuel our body’s energy demands. As you work-out your lungs get stronger, as your brain sends signals to breathe deeper and faster. At the same time endorphins begin racing around your body, and you begin to feel that buzz of being energised.

     

    Within one hour of exercising you are staring to protect yourself from colds and touches of flu. Exercises increase the level of immunoglobulins, which are proteins that help build your immune system and fight off infections.  The benefits to your immune system from exercise can last for up to 24 hours. Also within an hour of exercise, a burst of mood-enhancing chemicals flood our brains, which helps us to relax and reduce stress.

     

    Within a day of exercise, you will begin to build lean muscle, you will improve the function of your heart and may also start to reduce your blood pressure. Also within a day of exercise, you may also find that you are more focused and alert due to the increased blood flow and oxygen to your brain.

     

    After just one week of regular exercise, your risk of diabetes has reduced, and you may notice around a 5% increase in your endurance and fitness.

     

    After a month of regular exercise, you will be stronger, your body will be reducing fat and gaining muscle and your brainpower will have improved – exercising activated growth-stimulating proteins in the brain.

    After 2 to 3 months of regular exercise, everything will seem a whole lot easier. You could expect an improvement of up to 25% in your endurance and aerobic fitness. Your resting heart rate should have lowered, by now your heart will be pumping more efficiently.
